The miserable winter finally caught up with me and, if you'll pardon the expression, I've been 'under the weather' for the past week plus.
Annie is doing great though and we've established a nice daily rhythm for the application of her eye drops. Once in the morning as soon as we get up and once in the evening just before we go to bed. Most of the time she puts up with this inconvenience very well but now and again she gives us a bit of a hard time. I think she's getting tired of this.
When she's not sleeping Annie passes the time by sitting on my bed to gaze out the window. Another favorite is to select a stuffed animal from her toy chest bringing it to me to play. We have to compromise because I prefer to play fetch but Annie prefers a game of catch-me-if-you-can which entails my running around the house, through all the doorways with Annie stopping to look back waiting for me to get close before taking off again.
Orphée keeps himself amused by following us to the front and back doors to sniff the air. He also plays with his toy mouse by stalking it. He crouches down sneaking stealthily across the living room floor to hide behind my drapes. It's just too funny! He covers his entire body with the drape lying very still then all of a sudden he rushes the toy mouse in a full blown attack.
Sometimes I hear noise from the kitchen but after several trips to investigate I now know it's only Orphée hiding among the profusion of furniture legs under the table, another favored vantage point from which to launch an attack.
Sometimes I hear him talking and I know he's sitting on Mom's hope chest talking to one of the ferals hanging out at the food dishes on my front porch. If he's on the hope chest but in a crouching position, I know there are birds sunning themselves on the front porch fence.
The days are slowly getting warmer. Soon Annie and I will resume our long leisurely walks and it will be time to put Orphée in Buddy's old cage outside with us to enjoy some fresh air and sunshine. I'm looking forward to that.
